Best known for its reggae music, and white sandy beaches, Jamaica has a peaceful tranquility as you walk along miles of white sand, occasionally dipping your feet into the crystal clear waters, while sipping a cool rum punch.
Jamaica is framed by a turquoise ocean, the cool and misty Blue Mountains, and the unique atmosphere of a Spanish Town.
We spent but a day in this place whose name comes from the Arawak Indian name, Xaymaca, which means "Land of Wood and Water." Our cruise ship landed early on departure day but our flights were late. This afforded us the opportunity to visit the famed white beaches at the Rose Hill Beach Club and enjoy some of the native foods.
After an exhausting week of sailing the seas, Jamaica would have lulled me to sleep anyway - until the evening when the music starts, of course.
