Visiting Luxembourg on
"Viking Cruise "

Home Page           Travels Page

We spent little time in the city of Luxembourg, which, if you didn't already know is in the country of Luxembourg.

We visited the American cemetery there which has 17 acres of lawn surrounded by over 33 acres of woods. This is where over 5000 of our service men and women lie, many of whom Lauster lives in the Battle of the Bulge and in advance to the Rhine River. This is also the cemetery or General George Patton was buried.
As we entered through the gates we first saw a memorial chapel with a stone terrace directly in front of it.

The chapels entrance has large bronze doors that are embellished with gold leaf which depicts military "virtues " magnificent mosaic ceiling and colorful stained glass window which showcases the army insignias representing the men and women rest in the cemetery.

We had a short time left to roam the streets of the old town. Wanting to get something to eat and have a little time we chose McDonald's. It wasn't very good even by McDonald's standards.
