1976 My trip with a former girl friend
About 1976, I and the gal I sang with, the person who I was going to create this wonderful vocal sub career with, the vocal duo of Doug & Mary or Mary & Doug, depending on who you asked, sent my kids to grandma’s, got in my car, and drove to Ohio to visit her family. There we spent most of our two days there eating, singing and meeting family members.

1969? Dayton’s & NCR
Dayton’s WAS a department store where I worked for five years. (NCR National Cash Register) WAS the largest manufacturer of cash registers in the world at one time. Then it also became a manufacturer of large Mainframe computers in direct competition big blue – IBM.
At Dayton’s, which, later, became Dayton-Hudson Corp and then, the now well known, Target, I was a sales clerk during the Christmas season during a time I was attending the University of Minnesota. Thanks to one of the four owners, Bruce Dayton, who saw analytical skills in the things I was doing, I was offered work in the newly added “Computer Department” of the firm. I was sent to programming school for many weeks in Dayton Ohio where NCR’s Home officers were, for it was NCR that provided the new computers that Dayton’s had purchased and intended to help the firms growth.
After my time at Dayton’s, I joined NCR as a system analyst, and, again spent much time at their headquarters learning more skills.
