South Dakota

I can't tell you how many times I've been to South Dakota. It's next door to my state of Minnesota. I had many reasons, over time, to visit this State.

Mount Rushmore 19??

Sometime around 1900, Ramona, Aaron, Sarah and I, took a road trip to Mount Rushmore and to Estes Park, Colorado. On the way to Mt Rushmore we had to stop at the famous Wall Drug in Wall So Dak. This is a place that got its reputation by offering travelers a free glass of water as they paced by during the late 19th century. Today one can get a cup of coffee for five cents but I can tell you that I would, in the future, pass on the coffee.
At the display of the four Presidents carved into the mountains upper edge, we spent most of our time maneuvering the crowds that came there for the same reason. I can now say I’ve been there. I can also say that I would not care to do it again.

Winner South Dakota
In the early 1980”s I created a Motel Application on an early IBM PC that I called MARS (Motel Accounting & Reservation System). One of the motels that the system was tested in was in Winner. The motel was owned by my main salesperson. After test completion, a number of the MARS systems were sold throughout the state of South Dakota. Ramona and did most of the installations done and training of motel personnel in that state.
